Free Standing Punching Bag
The free
standing punching bag is a fast growing necessity for many workout routines. There are a few different
types of the free standing punching bags that will suit most people’s fitness goals. They range from more
technical workouts, to power workouts and speed workouts. Here are a few different solutions to help satisfy
your workout needs.
Punching Bags
The traditional free standing punching bag is the most common
bag available on the market. The base of the bag needs to be filled with sand or water so it does not move while
you workout. It’s important to note that a gallon of sand weighs more than a gallon of water, so if you’re into a
high intensity workout routine, it would probably be best to use sand.
Typically this type of freestanding
punching bag stands at about 64” to 72” tall which is great for anyone’s needs. Some bags are adjustable so many
different size people can use it easily. The adjustable punch bags can be adjusted anywhere from 47” all the way up
to 68” tall. The standard diameter of the bag is about 18”.
The free standing punching bag is made of
durable foam that is covered in a strong vinyl to prevent any rips and tears from extreme usage. The base is made
of a heavy plastic material to withstand a heavy amount of usage.
Training Tree
A training tree is considered to be a freestanding punching bag. If you are not familiar with
training trees here is a little information that may be useful to you. Training trees are designed for training
drills and focus drills. The training tree stands about 6 feet tall and has several different targets that can be
hit. Some of you may remember seeing something similar to this in the “Karate Kid” movies, although that training
tree was made out of all wood.
The base
and the frame of the training tree is made out of all wood, while the targets are made out of a hard sturdy
plastic, foam and vinyl covering. The target locations can very easily be adjusted. A training tree type of
freestanding punch bag is great for anyone that does karate or kick boxing, you can practice your speed, agility,
and precise accuracy all at the same time.
Speed Bags
Speed bags are also considered to be a free standing punching
bag. Speed bags are great for an intense fast hand movement workout. They do a great job of increasing your timing,
rhythm, stamina and accuracy while giving you a workout that you won’t forget. Typically these were only used by
boxers, but have become increasingly popular amongst all genres of martial arts.
Some types of speed punch bags need to be
mounted to the wall, and require a 16” wide beam for proper mounting. If not mounted properly there is a risk that
it will fall off the wall. Almost all of the mounting brackets are adjustable to any size athlete after they have
been installed. The brackets are composed of either steel/metal or wood for optimal strength and support. The
swivel is designed for high-speed movement of the speed bag, and an increased speed workout routine for
you.
